Which enzymes are in Pets52 Digestive Probiotic chews and why are they important?
We use two powerful probiotic strains called bacilius coagulans and bacilius subtilis. Each of these strains are part of the endospore family. This is important because endospore strains have a naturally occurring protective shield that allows the probiotic to pass through the heat and acid in your dog’s stomach. Many probiotics on the market are made with lactobacillus strains that have a much harder time surviving the stomach and never make it deep into the intestines and bowels where most of the attention is needed.
Are probiotics safe for dogs?
Over the past century, we have dramatically altered the canine diet from raw food to cooked food. By cooking kibble and canned food at high heat we are killing the naturally occurring enzymes. This is important because enzymes are special proteins made up of amino acids that help dogs break down the food in their stomach and intestines.
